It’s five o’clock in Kerala, a state in the south of India. A houseboat slowly slips through golden water breaking the crystal surface as the empty void below clutches at the timber hull. The softest of touches changes the world in a second. Shattered light laps up against the side of the boat. Transformational. Almost as if a lost phoenix lit everything from nothing – no direction. Totality. Beauty beyond recognition overwhelms a naked lens and flares in a stark glory. As humans we sit on the edge of a narrative that conditions us to what beauty is. However, the beauty of light connects with a more primordial understanding of life. The presence of light is only seen when it interacts with the world. A handsome spectre appearing when disturbed is truly a sight to behold.
