Division Of Labour, Proposal
Sculpture, custom made bricks, acrylic sheet. RIBA, London.
Collaboration with Benjamin Kee.
Bricks are universal, made to fit the human hand; they show how similar we all are. Used all over the world, from the cheapest dwellings to the most expensive residences. They create walls and borders, or safety but also of exclusion.
This proposal suggests creating two walls that have a spatial relationship to each other. These walls create different types of borders and territories around them and between them, physical and implied.
The bricks are to be custom made. Special attention will be paid to the frog of the brick. Each brick is seen as a small artwork itself.
